We are looking for a Senior Kotlin Backend Engineer to join a team responsible for developing and scaling a large Product Catalog platform. The project focusses on building high-performance backend services, improving product data quality, leveraging AI-powered solutions, and processing large-scale datasets to support a modern e-commerce ecosystem.
You will have a direct impact on the architecture, performance, and reliability of mission-critical services used to manage and optimise product information at scale.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Build and evolve systems based on a microservices architecture.
- Design the architecture of new modules and actively propose improvements for existing solutions.
- Ensure software quality through code reviews, documentation, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data Analysts, UX Designers, and other stakeholders to gather and refine business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain tools supporting large-scale product catalog management, with a strong focus on stability and performance.
- Contribute to solutions focused on data quality, product matching, and deduplication.
- Work with large datasets to support analytics and data-driven improvements.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong commercial experience with Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and developing microservices-based systems.
- Proven experience building and maintaining backend applications and APIs.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable system design.
- Experience conducting code reviews and maintaining technical documentation.
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Elasticsearch and search/data indexing solutions.
- Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and vector databases.
- Experience working with Big Data environments and data warehouses, particularly Google BigQuery.
- Knowledge of text processing, similarity analysis, and AI-powered data solutions.

- Developing and maintaining backend systems that support centralized product catalog operations.
Data Quality & Deduplication
- Building solutions that identify and eliminate duplicate product data using LLMs and vector databases.
Big Data Processing
- Analyzing and processing large volumes of data to improve catalog quality and business insights.
Platform Evolution
- Designing and implementing new microservices while continuously improving the existing architecture.
